Rebana Metropolitan is West Java’s regional development plan initiated by current governor which acts as a driver of economic growth in the North-East region of West Java based on the industrial development. Balongan area as the secondary growth center of Rebana Metropolitan Area is situated in the coastal northeastern part of the Indramayu region. This area is known for an oil refinery which is currently managed by Pertamina, a state-owned oil and gas company, which has a prominent role in maintaining the stability of fuel supply to Jakarta, Banten, parts of West Java and its surroundings. Development zones includes four main activities: Petrochemical Industrial Zone; Urban Zone; Minneapolitan Zone; Mangrove Conservation Zone.
Petrochemical industry ecosystem and fisheries as main potential of the area acts as catalyst of the development that is integrated through a spatial framework.
