Rebana Metropolitan is West Java’s regional development plan initiated by current governor which acts as a driver of economic growth in the North-East region of West Java based on the industrial development. Balongan area as the secondary growth center of Rebana Metropolitan Area is situated in the coastal north-eastern part of the Indramayu region. This area is known for the existence of an oil refinery which is currently managed by Pertamina. The masterplan tries to incorporate the existing economy linking it to the future economy, promoting symbiosis as a concept for integration of the existing under developed economy and human resource as well as the unique cultural context of the area.
