Glodok-Kotatua UDGL

  • Location Jakarta
  • Client MRT Jakarta
  • Type Urban Design Guidelines
  • Size 46,2 ha (Glodok Station) | 61,3 ha (Kotatua Station)
  • Awards

The expansion of MRT to the north of Jakarta required a greater development plan than the station. Kotatua Station is set out to be the final station for the south-northbound, and Glodok Station is one station before Kotatua. Thus, these 2 stations are packaged in one planning to ensure the harmony and integration between
them. Kotatua, with its strong heritage character, is the perfect showcase of Jakarta’s centuries-old history, envisioned to be a wellpreserved historical and cultural tourist destination. Meanwhile, Glodok is positioned as the festive Chinatown marketplace, distinct from Kota Tua, where its vibrant, carnival-like neighborhood is
the main feature of the area. Both plans are pushing forward the potential for an increase in Gross Floor Area, shared street, green and public spaces, housing, and pedestrian.
