Bosscha Observatory is the oldest observatory in Indonesia, which was established in 1923. The facility is acknowledged internationally and also recognized as national heritage building (2017). Given the observatory’s need for updates and improvements, the challenges involved optimizing the existing buildings spread over a large area while preserving the clear visibility of each observation facility for observing celestial objects. Responding to these, the design proposed separating the development zones based on their degree of importance.
To unite development forward, the master plan envisions Bosscha Observatory as the center of astronomical study in Indonesia, delivering inspiring and innovative facilities where great minds come together to develop cutting-edge research in astronomy and astrophysics while also improve science literacy for the public.
