As a part of Daerah Operasional/DAOP (Operational Area) 5, Kutoarjo Station serves as a transit place for crew shift changing. The challenges were to optimized the existing station area to accommodate the demand for efficient crew and passenger movement also the public transportation overall. Aside from the technical aspect, the project attempted to position the station as a catalyst for local economic growth. Active public involvement especially local businesses (such as Small and Medium Enterprises) around the station are pivotal to drive the local economic opportunities.
